Pixel Themes adds a new clock feature and more in Android 11 DP2

The new Android 11 Developer Preview 2 build is now available to download for its supported Pixel devices. As it turns out, Pixel phone owners will get to check out a revamped version of the Pixel Themes feature with this release.

The Styles & Wallpapers section of Android 11 now shows a "Clock" icon at the bottom. That likely indicates that the lockscreen for the OS will soon fully support a customize clock visual. Right now, only the default clock design is available. Considering it has been added to the Styles & Wallpapers section, we can hopefully expect Google to add more custom functionality to this feature in the near future.

In addition to the new (albeit non-functional) clock option, the Styles & Wallpaper section of Android 11 DP2 has a new look for the main wallpaper section. you can now see larger screenshots on the current wallpaper and lockscreen. There are also different categories of wallpaper you can browse through. Just swipe up to see the different types of wallpaper categories. While there are pre-installed designs to choose from, there's also a category called "My Photos" that lets you pick from your own camera roll.

Google suspended a popular Android podcast app because it catalogs COVID-19 content

© Podcast Addict Podcast Addict, an Android podcast app with millions of users, was suspended over the weekend because it lists COVID-19 content. The app's creator, Xavier Guillemane, tells The Verge that on Saturday, Google suspended and removed the ads from his nine-year-old app because it violated a new policy for developers that requires any app with a reference to COVID-19 to be "published, commissioned, or authorized by official government entities or public health organizations." Guillemane's app catalogs publicly available podcast RSS feeds, which he doesn't control. The content includes news shows, talk shows, and a variety of programming that mentions the pandemic and virus. He says Google told him he'd need to address this problem and then republish his app under a different name to be reinstated.
